What is Row In Vane, anyway? Well..........
Row In Vane meets the definition of a small business...its staff and board of directors can fit around a small kitchen table, with room left over.
Row In Vane's designer, assembler, packer, shipper and chief cook and bottle washer is David Smalley.
David is a sculptor and retired art professor who works in metal, primarily in the form of abstract, wind-activated sculptures. He's had over 40 solo, two-person and invitational exhibits in the United States, Britain, and Japan. His work is in major public and private collections.
David has been sculling for 25 years, with great satisfaction and not much competitive success. He presently rows with the Niantic River Sculling Warthogs, a motley crew of pretty good scullers, who, after rowing him ragged on the river every morning, continue in the same 'vane' (sorry, couldn't resist) and offer critiques of his rowing form and weathervane designs over coffee.
